Frequently Asked Questions
F.A.Q.- Frequently Asked Questions, Service, Fees & More
Q: How will I know if you are the right therapist?
A: The only way to know is to come in for a session. Most people know whether we are the right professionals to help them within a few sessions. We also offer free 15-minute consultations.
Q: Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
A: All services are online sessions. Online counseling sessions are conducted via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform (similar to Zoom or Skype).
Q: Is online counseling right for me?
A: Although there are many advantages of online counseling (it's convenient, effective, and keeps us safe from infectious diseases such as COVID-19), it's not suitable for everyone. Online counseling (teletherapy) works best for those with mild to moderate symptoms (not people who are suicidal or in crisis), are comfortable using technology, and have a quiet, private place to have their sessions.
Q: Who do you work with?
A: We offer online therapy services and support across Michigan at Mental Health Restored. Our specialty is assisting high-powered professionals, public figures, entertainers, athletes, prominent couples, and families committed to nurturing healthy interpersonal relationships. We provide personalized support, tailored treatment, and necessary steps to regain a balanced self that positively impacts all areas of life.
Q: What can I expect from therapy?
A: Once you have decided to see a therapist, you still might be apprehensive about the process. Many people feel nervous before their first appointment. Therapy is a shared journey, a shared process, but the journey is a celebration of you. And, although we will travel together, it is ultimately your journey, and you will make your own decisions. We are a guide that helps mirror thought-provoking "Aha" moments that help you make the best choices for yourself. We desire to ensure you receive lifetime tools and techniques to better yourself. You can expect to be respected. You can expect that we will offer opinions and suggestions occasionally, but we will not tell you what to do.
Q: What happens during the first session?
A: The initial session is the time for you to start sharing your story and talking about your goals and what you would like to change. Another important aspect of the first session is deciding if we are a good fit. Do we seem like someone you can trust? We are establishing a relationship that will become the foundation for working together. You will begin to figure out some goals; we will start to figure out how to help you get there.
Q: How long do therapy appointments last?
A: Appointments are 55 minutes, the standard length of a counseling session. If you are interested in a longer session (75 minutes), please contact me regarding availability and pricing.
Q: How often will we meet?
A: To begin, we will meet once a week (depending on the service's needs). I find it's essential to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly, or progress can stall. We can decide together what works best for your schedule. Bi-weekly sessions are also an option.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: All therapy and stress management sessions are 55 minutes long. Individual sessions are $175, and couple sessions are $325. Sex therapy is the same price for individual and couple sessions. We also offer group counseling, contractual assessments, consulting, coaching, training, workshops, and wellness retreats. Our groups and training usually require a minimum of 15 people. Please let us know if you have a smaller group and are interested. Please contact us for all additional pricing information on other services and minimum requirements. All payments will be collected at the start of service.
Q: Do you accept insurance? Other forms of payment.
A: Yes, we accept insurance through BCBS only (all therapy services) and private pay. Understand that if you are using your insurance, it requires a DSM-V diagnosis. We also offer private pay, super billing, M.V.A. (motor vehicle accident) medical claims, flexible spending, and health savings payments. If you do not want a diagnosis, the preferred payment would be out-of-pocket/private pay.
What is the No Surprises Act?
The "No Surprises Act" went into effect on January 1, 20222. This law requires medical professionals to notify you of your federally protected rights when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, if a client is uninsured, or if a client chooses not to use their insurance benefits instead of a fee-for-service cash option. Please contact your clinician if you have any questions regarding this new law.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, healthcare providers and facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal healthcare program or seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Under the law, healthcare providers must give patients without insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We are committed to providing exceptional service to all our clients As such, we request a 24-hour cancellation notice. In the event of a no-show, a fee will be charged. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we will make every effort to accommodate emergencies on a case-by-case basis. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Q: What theoretical approach do you use?
A: We use a variety of theories and techniques. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques are often helpful for my clients.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
A: No, we are not medical doctors. Some patients find medication helpful, but some also progress in therapy without medication. If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, either contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. We can coordinate care with your doctor if you are already taking medication.
Q: Are there any issues or types of clients that you DON'T work with?
A: We don't provide treatment for ages 20 and younger, eating disorders, psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc), or personality disorders. Due to state licensing laws, we can only provide therapy and counseling to individuals residing in Michigan.
